Italien muss sich auf einen neuen Staatspräsidenten einigen. Sergio Mattarella tritt nach sieben Jahren Amtszeit nicht mehr an. 2018 wendete Mattarella einen italienischen Finanzminister ab, der den Austritt aus dem Euro plante, 2019 eine Machtübernahme des Parlaments durch Rechtspopulisten. 2021 ernannte er eine Notstandsregierung, um das zersplittete Land während der Covid-Krise auf Kurs zu halten.
Dagegen ist Mario Draghi eine umstrittene politische Figur
Bereits als EZB-Präsident zeichnete sich ab, was bald Realität werden könnte. Die geplante Aufhebung der Schuldengrenze für Staaten im Euroraum ist die Finalisierung seiner Zentralbankpolitik und dies ist nicht ungefährlich. Schafft Drahgi es tatsächlich, sich als Staats- und Ministerpräsident an eine nahezu totalitäre italienische Regierungsspitze zu setzen – wobei schon heute „tatsächlich keiner der Vorsitzenden der großen Parteien Minister in Draghis Kabinett ist“ [Wikipedia] – so akkumuliert er als politisch agierender Machthaber wieder so viel Einfluß auf den Euro wie zuvor als EZB-Vorsitzender. Den zusammen mit Frankreichs Macron würde er mit Italien eine ökonomische Doppelspitze einnehmen, welche bereits beabsichtigt, die Staatsschulden unbegrenzt zu erlauben. Am Ende wird der Steuerzahler ökonomisch stärkerer Euro-Staaten die Zeche bezahlen dürfen.
Selbst mit Draghi als italienischer Finanzminister hätte ich meine Schwierigkeiten, dennoch muss ich mit der Wahrscheinlichkeit rechnen, das Draghi den Tripple-Coup hinbekommt: faktischer EZB-Vorsitz + italienischer Staats+ Ministerpräsident auf Gnaden und Lebzeiten bis das der finanzielle Exodus uns scheide.

Italy has to agree on a new president. Sergio Mattarella will no longer run after seven years in office. In 2018 Mattarella turned away an Italian finance minister who was planning to leave the euro, and in 2019 right-wing populists closely took over power in parliament. In 2021, he appointed an emergency government to keep the fragmented country on track during the Covid crisis.
On the opposite there is Mario Draghi, a quite controversial political figure
Even as President of the ECB, it became clear what could soon become a reality. The lifting of the debt limit for countries in the euro area is the finalization of its central bank policy and this is not without danger. If Drahgi actually manages to put himself as both, state and prime minister at the same time, on top at an almost totalitarian Italian emergency government – even today „none of the chairmen of the major parties are ministers in Draghi’s cabinet“ [Wikipedia] -, not only the Italian democracy could be jeopardized.
This is how he accumulates again the influence neccessary to become an active ruler on the euro like as chairman of the ECB. Together with France’s Macron, he would form a double leadership of economic blackmail with Italy, which in any case intends to allow unlimited national debts. In the end, the taxpayer will be forced to foot the bill for all the economically weaker european countries.
Even with Draghi as Italian finance minister I would have my difficulties, but I have to reckon with the likelihood that Draghi will manage the triple coup: de facto ECB chairmanship + Italian state + prime minister for life and grace until the financial exodus does us part.
